And Now The Story!!!!!

“He met her at a party. She was so outstanding, many guys were chasing her, while he was so normal, so placid, nobody paid attention to him.”

At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him. She was surprised, but since she thought it would be impolite, she agreed. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to talk, she was feeling uncomfortable and she thought, “Please, can I go home???”

Suddenly he waived for the waiter and asked, “Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee !!!” Everybody stared at him, so strange!!! His face turned red, but still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; “Why do you like your coffee like this?”

He replied, “When I was a little boy, I lived near the sea, I liked playing in the sea, and I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there”. While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched. That’s his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can talk about his homesickness, must be a man who loves home, cares about home, and is responsible towards home. Then she also started to talk, she talked about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, and also a beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found out that actually he was a man who fulfilled all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm and caring. He was such a good person but she was almost going to loose him! Thanks to his salty coffee!

Then the story went on just like every other beautiful love story , the princess married the prince, and then they lived happily ever after...

Every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

After 40 years, one day he passed away and left her a letter which said: “My dearest, please forgive me, forgive me for not being truthful. There was only once when I had lied to you- “the salty coffee”.”

“Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, that actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt instead. It was so hard for me to change it, so I just went ahead. I never realized that, that could be the starting of our relationship! I tried to tell you the truth many a times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I had promised not to lie to you for anything. Now, as I'm dying, I am afraid of nothing and I am telling you the truth: “I don't like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste it has !! But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I had you, I never felt sorry about anything I had to do for you. Having you with me was the biggest happiness of my life. If I am reborn, I will still want to know you and have you by me always, even if it meant I have to drink the salty coffee again”. Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Someday, someone asked her, “What's the taste of the coffee with salt in it”? “It's sweet”, she replied.

Yeh Lazy Lazy Lamhe!!!!

30th July 2008, 12:28 AM My Office, Kolkata, India

I have never been much of a writer!!! But I guess I am predominantly a "BONG"!!! So I reckon that I can write!!!!

Since almost a decade I have been an accomplished Nocturnal Creature..... No!!! I ain't no Vampire.... it's just that I have been with BPOs all this while!!! BPOs are in a ways good, after the initial years of slogging you finally reach a stage wherein there's not much difference between you and the security guard at your office gate apart from the package both draw. I currently am paid to stay up at nite and inspect & ensure that the team of vampires who work under me are all up & fairly awake solving the great "AMERICAN PROBLEM" (I at times feel like congratulating Mr. Bush on still being able to lead a country wherein people have endless problems). And thus this job leaves me a lot of time to get bored as this generation of Indians are thorough professionals and don't need much supervision.

So on a day like this(Sorry! nite like this), I was browsing thru Rimi's blog when this million dollar idea struck me and I decided to write!!!! Amazing!!! But what do we write about??? So, after much contemplations & desk cracking brain storming, we decided to go the Chetan Bhagat way and write a story!!!! Rimi....... here I come!!!!!

TO BE CONTD.....
